Fields Game Day
Both Teams are responsible for dragging and lining the
fields and filling holes prior to the game. This takes approximately 30-45
minutes.
Also check that the safety brake-a-way bases are
installed on A-Field. The high school DOES NOT use brake-a-way bases.
NOTE: First game of the day on Saturday. Both
Teams should have two parents be at the field 1 hour before game starts. Both
Teams should help get the field ready for play. There are normally 2-3 games
per field on Saturday, so prepping the field is of up most importance on
Saturdays. There is generally less than 15 minutes between games. The teams leaving the field should help
the teams getting ready to next on Saturdays, with fill holes for the game getting ready
to play. There are two fields and the equipment for dragging the fields need to
shared.
- After
the game, BOTH teams is responsible for filling in any holes
caused by "Digging in" at the pitching and batting areas.
- BOTH
teams are responsible for putting equipment away at the end of the last
game of the day.
- The
last game of the day BOTH MANAGER'S are
responsible for make sure that all field equipment is put away and boxes
locked.
- Both
teams are responsible for clearing equipment and trash out of the
dugouts in a timely fashion. Important when there is a game following.
- Both
teams are responsible for picking up trash around the bleachers. Team
parent, please remind you parents.
- GAMES FOLLOWING RAIN: If a game is being
played following rain (whether it rained the day of the game or night
before the game), both teams must send two (2) representatives to help
get the fields ready for play. Penalty: no infield warm-up.
- Batting
regulation softballs into the fence is prohibited. Wiffle
balls are okay.
- While
games are in progress, batting cage and pitching cage are to be available
only to the teams scheduled for that game. Unless permission is granted by
the team whose dugout is on that side. Batting should never be done
in the batting cages while games are in progress. The sound of the
bat hitting the ball is a distraction for the players on the field, and is
thus a safety issue.
- TEE BALL: For tee ball
the bases are set to 50 feet. This is done by removing the magnet bases
from their mounts, 2nd and 3rd, and moving them in to the 50 foot
position, leave the magnets in the ground at 2nd and 3rd. There is a spare
base in the Green Box on B-Field, this is to be used for 1st base, leave
the double (white/orange) base in place at first. The bases
are to be returned to the regulation distance after the Tee ball game is
completed.
Trash Removal
- ALL
TEAMS are responsible for cleaning up the dugouts and bleacher areas
after their games. This includes emptying the dugout trash can.
- The
team assigned trash duty for the week is responsible for dumping the trash
cans into the dumpster. This should be done once during the week and after
the last game on Saturday. Dumpster is located behind the old concessions
trailer. If it locked all team managers and coaches have a key.
- Trash
bags are in the concession stand. Be sure to get them before the
concession stand closes.
- Part
of our contract with the city is that we empty the trash on the fields. It
is WBLL responsibility to make sure that trash is picked up and the cans
dumped in the dumpster.
Fields Grass Cutting
- Grass
needs to be cut twice a week by us, WBLL. The school usually has games on
Tuesday and Thursdays, so the grass should be managed with there play
schedule in mind. Usually Monday's and Friday's.
- WBLL
is responsible for cutting the grass inside the fence only. This includes
trimming the grass along the fence, inside the pitching cage, and batting
cage, on B-Field, along the outside fence on A-Field cages.
